Most of us put planters out only during the summer. But year-round splashes of color are possible when all-season plants come into the mix. Tips include:
Make seasonal planters last all year by mixing all season plants into the combinations. For instance, start with an evergreen or plant that will be nice now and in December.
Add a grass or grass like plant for movement and impact.
Add different textures and colors to increase the pop.
Add your favorite annuals for color.
Place grasses and annuals in grower container for easy switch out in fall and winter.
Put plants that have similar needs in the same planter. For example, sun plant with sun plants.
Use evergreens that are hardy and low maintenance in care.
Use several different sized and style containers on one side of entry to create a great asymmetrical focal point.
Use one large planter as centerpiece of garden and build your garden around planter.
